The Cottage

Fordhead
Cottage offers superb self-catering accommodation in this
original building attached to a large, traditional Victorian
farmhouse located at the head of the historic Fords of Frew.
The cottage retains much of the charm and ambiance of days
gone by and imparts that comfortable feeling of 'homeliness'
to all who stay there.
Located in peaceful surroundings there is ample opportunity
to wander along the riverbank, try your hand at trout fishing
or simply enjoy the rural tranquility.
Situated just 1 mile outside the picturesque village of Kippen
with its historic buildings and lovely traditional pubs/restaurants,
the Cottage is within easy reach of Stirling, The Trossachs,
Glasgow and Edinburgh and provides an ideal central touring
base for your holiday. |

A
small private enclosed garden provides either a safe
place for children to play or a spot in which to relax
and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Water, electricity and central heating costs are included
in the rental. Towels and bed linen are provided at
no extra charge. We ask that guests respect our non-smoking
policy and well-behaved pets are welcome (there is ample
opportunity to walk them on the river bank).
We have included detailed information on things to do
and places to visit (either locally or further afield)
elsewhere on the site. |

The
Living/Dining Room
|
The living
area and dining area in the Cottage is a large spacious room
of 18ft x 18ft (almost 6m x 6m).
The room is well illuminated with natural light from three
windows and two french doors (which open onto an enclosed
patio area and gives access to the garden).
The spacious Lounge Area offers comfortable seating and a
television and video are provided (so there's no need to miss
that cliff-hanger in your favourite soap).
The furnishings throughout are of traditional solid pine in
keeping with the period of the building and many of the doors
are original. |

The
Dining Area has a large rectangular pine table with ample
seating for 6 adults.
An alternative to meals indoors is provided on the patio, with a table, chairs and a barbeque (for the more
adventurous chefs out there).
The Living Area has views of the garden with the Gargunnock
hills in the background to the south. The windows on the
opposite side look over the farm buildings, the courtyard
and the distant hills to the north. The east facing window
(and the french doors) look out towards the Ochil Hills,
the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle.

The
Kitchen
|
The
kitchen is fully fitted to a very
high standard and includes an electric
oven and four-ring hob, fridge-freezer
dish-washer and microwave.
The kitchen enjoys sunshine throughout most of the day and
has a superb view over the garden and the Gargunnock Hills
beyond

The
Master Bedroom
|
The
Master bedroom retains much of the
charm and ambiance of times gone
by.
The room has a super king-sized
bed.
Ample storage is evident in the
wardrobe and dresser and a colour
television is provided.
Further sleeping accommodation is
provided by means of foldaway bed
if required.
The room features an ensuite shower
facility.

A
unique feature in the master bedroom is it's striking cast iron king-sized bed. It also features it's own ensuite shower room complete with under floor heating, ... pure decadence!
Imagine retreating to this warm cosy atmosphere after
a hectic day of sightseeing.
The view to the south looks over the garden with it's raised organic fruit & vegetable beds and to the Gargunnock Hills beyond. The view from the north facing side
is of the farmyard, pergola area and the distant hills
of the Highlands.

The
Second Bedroom
|
The
second bedroom is slightly smaller
than the master bedroom, but still
has a king-size bed and ample storage
facilities from the built-in wardrobe and drawer units.
The bed can be configured as two separate twin beds or kept as a single king-size to suit your requirements.
A colour television is provided.
Situated to the southern side of
the building and accessed from the
hall, the room is illuminated by
one single window on the southern
wall with a view over the garden
and the gargunnock hills.
This bedroom has exclusive access to the adjacent shower room which includes a cosy under floor heating system. |

Hot Tub
|
The cottage has it's own private hot tub situated in a delightful, cosy, cabin at the rear of the garden.
What better place to relax with a glass of wine after a busy day sightseeing or walking. |
