Home Produce

Fiona is without doubt a fine cook - just one of the skills that goes with a busy farming housewife

She is also an accomplished baker. The photograph shows some tins of dough 'rising' before they are baked into delicious home-made bread.

Apart from feeding the family, Fiona also caters for the needs of the newly arrived guests to the cottages. If required, she will prepare a casserole or a pot of warming home-made soup to fortify the travel-weary arrivals.

Drop her a line if you would like her to organise something for your own arrival.

Another tasty sideline that Fiona somehow fits into her busy schedule is the creation of jams, jellies and chutneys.

These superb preserves are made from locally grown produce (wherever possible) and are in great demand.

Plums, damsons, raspberries and strawberries are made into delicious jams. Gooseberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants produce the best jellies and oranges and lemons are used in her marmalade and lemon curd.

Many of the ingredients of her chutneys are actually grown in the Fordhead garden.
