The first route, (VT1 in Virgin's timetables), runs from the extreme south west of England at Penzance up the west side of the country and terminates at Glasgow Central or Edinburgh Waverly.
The second route, (VT2 in Virgin's timetables), is a complicated route that runs from Bournemouth or Brighton and may terminate at Liverpool in the west or Newcastle in the east. Alternatively, it may run to Glasgow Central in the west of Scotland and Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen in the east of Scotland.
Note: This route is not shown on the map.
The third route, (VT3 in Virgin's timetables) also runs from Penzance, but switches over to the east side to the country at Birmingham. From there it passes through York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Dundee to name a few. The route terminates in Aberdeen.
The fourth route, (VT6 in Virgin's timetables), runs from Euston station in London to Tamworth where it crosses over to Stafford on the west side and continues up the west line to Glasgow Central

None of the Virgin routes pass through Stirling, so a connecting train will be required from Glasgow or Edinburgh.
